Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh situated at an altitude of 2276 metres above the sea level. It is well known for its temperature and snowfall. There are number of places to visit in Shimla like Jhakoo temple, mall road, viceregal lodge, Chadwick fall, Sankat Mochan temple and many more. There is a village near the Shimla that looks like a crown on the mountain.  You can reach here by Air and the nearest airport is Shimla Airport at Jubbarhatti, at a distance of 23 kms from the city. By Railways, the Kalka-shimla rail line offers you a breathtaking view of terrain and takes you to the city. By road, public transports are also available or you can travel by your own private vehicle as well.  

Viceregal Lodge

 One of the first electric buildings of India builds by architect Henry Irwin, the designed and appearance of structure is just like the Scottish castle. After independence this building became the part of Presidential Estate and was donated to promote higher education by president S Radhakrishnan. Some parts are now open for visitors.

Jhakoo Temple

Jhakoo hill is the Shimla’s peak and home to lord Hanuman situated at an elevation of 2445 metres above the sea level. The Jhakoo temple is just half an hour climb away from the Ridge and ropeway service is also available to reach to the Jhakoo temple.

Sankat Mochan Temple

The temple Sankat Mochan is dedicated to the Lord Hanuman and was built in 1950. The temple is at a distance of 5 km from the city center. On Tuesdays and Sundays, there is a free community lunch for all the visitors hosted by the devotees all throughout the year.  

Chadwick falls

Chadwick falls one of the best waterfalls in Shimla and is situated at a distance of 5 km from the Shimla Railway Station. It is located at an elevation of 1586 metres above the sea level and the height of waterfall is about 100 meters. This waterfall makes the city more beautiful and attractive for the tourists from all over the nation.

The Mall road

The Main Street or shopping centre of the city. The Gaiety Theater and town hall buildings are on this street which makes this place more attractive. Many handicraft items, wooden items, famous Himachali Hats, Pashmina shawls being the prime attraction on the mall road.

Fagu Village          

There is a village that sits like a crown on a mountain near Shimla named as ‘Fagu Village’ which is 25 kms away from the city. It is located at an elevation of 2450 meters above sea level. It is a tiny village covered with mountains along Hindustan Tibet Road. Vivid Dales and Snow Clad peaks like rare ranges can be viewed from here. In winters, temperature goes down below the freezing point while in summer also you will see the ice blanket. This is the best place for the adorable countryside with the soft music to enjoy. This place is best known for its apple orchards.
