PLACES IN UTTARAKHAND THAT WILL MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THE SNOW

Uttarakhand is the Northern state of India. It is best known for its snow-covered Himalayas due to which it is also known as ‘white wonderland.’ During winters, most of the towns and districts of the state are blanketed with snow. Some of the places that will make you fall in love with this snow-covered state are Auli, Chopta, Binsar, Khirsu, Ranikhet, and many more.

Auli

Auli is in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is also known as Auli Bugyal and is located at an altitude of 2800 meters above sea level. It is covered with snow almost throughout the year. It is mainly famous for hiking, skiing. It is surrounded by coniferous and oak forests with a broad view of the peaks of the Himalayas covered with snow. Some of the popular visiting places in Auli are kwani bugyal, Nanda Devi National park, the valley of flowers, Joshimath, and many more.

Chopta

Chopta is a small region of meadows and evergreen forest area. It is a part of the Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary which is located at an altitude of 2600 meters above sea level. It is the base camp for Tungnath trekking. In winters, the nearby villages of Chopta and the pine and deodar trees get covered with the snow. People from all around India visit this place during winters for snow skiing and snow trekking.

Binsar

Binsar is situated at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level and is 95 km from Nainital. The panoramic view of the mountains from zero points of Binsar is breathtakingly beautiful. It is also an ideal place for nature lovers, landscape photographers, and bird watchers. You can cover the views of Nanda Devi, Panchchuli peaks snow-capped Chaukhamba, and Trishul from this place. Binsar is well known for its flora and fauna and wildlife sanctuary where you can find many rare wildlife species.    

Khirsu

This hill station is situated in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. It is truly a slice of bliss among the valleys and mountain ranges. You can enjoy the view of various famous peaks like Nandakot, Panchchuli, Trishul peaks, and Nanda Devi. This place is devoid of urban noises due to which you will feel a sense of inner peace at this place. The pathways are covered with pine, deodar, and oak trees. You will experience nature at its best form here.

Ranikhet

Ranikhet refers to the Queen of meadows. It is the cantonment town in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is situated at an altitude of 1870 meters above sea level and is maintained by the Indian army. It is famous for the temple of Golu Devta and the Gandhi Kuti. You can visit here throughout the year and in winters, it turns into hazy white with snow. The hill station is covered with coniferous trees and many lakes are present here.
